Tablelands Regional Library Service is a contributor to Picture Queensland

The Tablelands region is an area covering 64,768 square kilometres of diverse landscapes including world heritage rainforests and crater lakes, expansive savannahs and wetlands, along with a variety of rural and agricultural farming.  The population of 42,196 is dispersed across this large, geographically diverse region which is slightly larger than the land mass of Tasmania.

There are 11 libraries located within the Tablelands region providing an extensive variety of materials to borrow including books, videos, DVDs, music CDs, magazines, audio books, newspapers and jigsaws.

The Atherton Library's Local History collection is the main Local History collection with satellite collections held at many of the other 10 library branches. The Atherton Library been involved in the preservation of the region's local documentary heritage for a number of years. Established in the 1980s, the ‘Old Post Office Gallery’ image collection contains over 1,000 historical photographs. The images date from the late1890s and are representative of the life on the Atherton tablelands.
