State Library of Tasmania

The State Library of Tasmania's heritage resources are held in two main locations, in Hobart and Launceston:

The Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office, in Hobart, includes the Archives Office of Tasmania, Tasmanian Library, Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts and the WL Crowther Library. Together, these collections have rich holdings of government and non-government records, printed books and ephemeral, maps, paintings, prints, photographs, artefacts and decorative arts. The collections relate mainly to Tasmania, but include other subject areas such as the history of whaling and medical history.

The Launceston Local Studies Library holds printed, manuscript and photographic material relating to northern Tasmania.
