Located in South East Queensland, with a population of 155,000 and one hour from the Port of Brisbane, Ipswich is the oldest provincial city in Queensland, and this is reflected by the grace and magnitude of more than 6,000 heritage listed sites.
The Picture Ipswich site has images that date from the 1860s and features historical images which provide a unique insight to the local history of Ipswich - Its people, families, places and way of life. These images tell a story of how the city grew from its beginnings to the present day. The collection represents an important historical resource for the people of Ipswich, students, researchers and the general public.
