Located in South-East Queensland, Gold Coast City spans an area of 1,402 square kilometres, including some 70 kilometres of coastline from South Stradbroke Island to Coolangatta. With its sand and surf, kilometres of waterways, entertainment and scenic forests and farms of the hinterland, the City is renowned as a domestic and international tourism destination.

The PictureGoldCoast database contains over 6,500 images from the extensive photographic collection contributed to the Local Studies Library by the community and local organizations. The collection provides evocative glimpses of the rich history and cultural heritage of the Gold Coast, from its pioneering past to the more recent boomtown times of the late 20th century.

Digitizing and cataloguing of the photograph collection is ongoing. Donations of heritage materials are always appreciated.

Copying of images for publication or commercial use is not permitted without written consent.
